I tried a new launch strategy hang gliding Marina Beach, near Monterey, CA, USA on December 24, 2021. A sloppy launch prevented me from having the altitude to make the 180 to stay on the main launch dune, so I tried crossing the "hotel gap" to the north and flying those dunes. It actually worked out pretty well, although my new shoes were a bit big to fit into the harness. I did better later on.
