Eric Tran reveals the brain’s visual-spatial potential through his journey with the abacus and memory techniques. He challenges the belief that intelligence is fixed, showing how anyone can unlock new ways of thinking by learning to see differently. Trần Gia Hưng is a 12th-grade student at Carrollwood Day School, originally from Vietnam. Since the age of seven, he has trained in abacus mental math and memory techniques, even competing on national television and international competitions. In his talk, “Our Brain’s Hidden Dimension,” he explores how these visualization methods reveal the brain’s hidden potential to calculate faster than a calculator and memorize thousands of digits, and why internalizing them early makes them especially powerful, providing a glimpse into the power of creativity in expanding what the human brain can do. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
