Some of the products or components produced in the pharmaceutical and bioprocess industry are senstive to shear/strain forces. For example, certain proteins or large organic molecules can be damaged by shear, causing product detorioration or shorter lifetime. In this case study we show how CFD can be used to analyse the local shear stress on products, and how to minimise the risks by better operation and design.
