City of San Antonio: Peterbilt 520 Amrep HX-450 ASL Garbage Truck

After much anticipation and a few hiccups along the way, San Antonio’s Amreps are finally on route! Currently about eight of these are in service at the Northeast yard, which replaced a handful of ZRs as frontline units for organics collection. I stumbled across this one with a super friendly driver who I’ve filmed in the past and was able to film him on a couple different days in his new truck. When the city first got these a month or two ago, they actually had a major mechanical error where they were not able to dump any cans weighing more than 50 pounds. As a result they had to be immediately sent back to the manufacturer but now a few weeks later, the bugs have been worked out. While they pack organics extremely well, the driver thinks the truck is just okay. The first half of the video he was packing out as I found him towards the end of his route while the second half was filmed in the morning. Definitely like the look of these trucks and it’s nice that they lid flip just about every can. Been waiting to see these for a while and I hope you guys enjoy seeing it as well!
