📱 Nokia 7110 is the second handset with a sliding cover (after 8110), released in 1999. It is the first Nokia phone to run Series 40 UI. And also the first with integrated WAP browser. It has physically quite large display (96×65 pixels), and also "Navi Roller" instead of D-pad. It was the first and only Nokia phone to use such, they ditch the idea after it, maybe because it was prone to get dirty and stop operating correctly over time.

✅ The key feature of the phone was, of course, the spring-loaded “slide cover”, which is activated by pressing the button on the back right side. The phone is definitely aimed toward right-handed users, it is very difficult to open it using the left hand. The phone is often confused to be the "Matrix phone" (used in the Matrix movies) but the phone uses there was a modified version of 8110, which was made specifically for the movie with the same spring-loaded cover, and it wasn't publicly available with such in the retail unit. Since 7110 has it, many peoeple mistake it, but it is NOT it ;). Interestingly, the mechanism is done so, that it can be opened by sliding manually and this way the spring mechanism does not trigger.

💻 The WAP browser, being the first one ever, was quite limited, the WAP compatible websites at this time were also very limited but even like this, it was quite innovative and step forward. The phone also was the first to feature T9 Predictive text input.
