This is the Anuradhapura - Mihintale Railway Line. Shortest Railway Line Operating for passenger trains by Sri Lanka Railways.This Anuradhapura to Mihintale Railway line is a 15 Kilometers long Railway line. This Mihintale Railway line opened on 28 th May of 1993. This Railway Line contains two Railway Railway Stations named Anuradhapura & Mihintale, One Sub railway station named Mihintale Junction & Two Small Train halts named Samagipura & Ashokapura. In this line Trains are operating only for poson week.
This video was taken on 20 th June in 2024 on the First Passenger Train after the 5 years of track rehabilitation project. This railway line opened after 5 years of rehabilitation project on 17 th June 2024. But the first passenger train ran on the 20th june 2024. The line is opened but still not completed. You can see those in the video also. We are going this journey with a Sri Lanka Railways oldest member named Quebec locomotive. Locomotive number is Class M2 573.
