In the early hours of February 9, 2023 the Connecticut Valley Railroad picked up two loaded gondolas of relay rail, ties plates, and joint bars from the Providence & Worcester interchange in Old Saybrook, CT. They then made it to Essex before being brought down to the museum yard for unloading. These cars are two "modern" freight cars used in scrap metal service so seeing them on the Connecticut Valley Railroad who normally runs 1900's steam locomotives was a rare treat. The video shows two 80 tonner centercab switchers moving them from Essex to Old Saybrook for unloading along with some switching. We also take a quick look at one of the rails being unloaded. Tying this in with South Coast Rail Videos this is actually rail from the South Coast Rail Project that will now get a new life on the tourist railroad.
This video was filmed with permission on railroad property.

Ignore the spelling mistakes I’ve been up since 4am and didn’t reread my captions.
