Drift Events in 30 different racing games (NFS, Juiced, Forza, Gran Turismo and more)

In 2017 I posted a video showing drift events in 12 different racing games, which has over 2 million views now. Since then a lot of new games have been released though and I also added many more older games to my collection, so today it is time for a new version of the video.

This time I am showing you 30 (!) different games where it is your goal to score points in an event or activity by drifting, showcasing the different physics models and scoring systems that were used by many different racing games over the past 20 years. Enjoy the show!

Many gamers probably had their first contact with drifting in Need for Speed Underground and drift events returned in many of the following NFS titles. The Grid franchise also featured drifting in most of its games and The Crew has it in all of them now, after adding it in the first game with the Wild Run expansion.

One issue with drift events in many games is that you are encouraged to keep drifting even on the straights to get the maximum score, which is not always fun. Gran Turismo, Driveclub and Grid Autosport get around this by splitting the track into different sections and only letting you score points in the corners.

Forza Motorsport allowed you to turn on a drift score hud in FM 3-6 but the system wasn't used for any actual events yet where scoring points was actually your goal. Recent NFS and Forza Horizon games also feature drift zone activities in free roam. For some of the games in the video I am showing a drift zone instead of a regular event.

As usual I am showing exactly the games that I intend to show in the video and no games were missed or forgotten. Make sure that you understand this before you post a comment under the video, as I often get falsely accused of having missed or forgotten things in these types of videos when in reality it simply wasn't my intention to show them.

Also note that drifting is not what I usually do when I play racing games. I am much better at racing than at drifting. However, I still tried my best to record the best possible runs for this video, sometimes even practicing a run for a whole hour in some of the more difficult games. Hopefully people will recognize and appreciate the effort that I put into the video to make it as good as possible. :)
