Judge declares mistrial in Edward Holley murder trial after no unanimous verdict | News 12

A mistrial has been declared in the murder trial of Edward Holley, who was accused of killing Megan McDonald 22 years ago. Orange County Court Judge Hyun Chin Kim declared the mistrial after six days of deliberations. Holley is accused of bludgeoning McDonald, his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend, with a claw hammer in 2003 and then dumping her body in a muddy field off Bowser Road in the Town of Wallkill. It took state police 20 years to charge Holley. They did so in 2023 after they said new DNA evidence linked him to the case.
