In this episode we bring true hardware sprites to life on the virtual console. We design the sprite subsystem, define how sprite memory works, and integrate palette-based rendering at the hardware level.
With the architecture in place, we build tools to visualise sprites and create a demo showing multiple objects moving independently around the screen at full speed.
This is a big leap toward making the console feel like a real retro machine — and sets the stage for the tilemap and platforming systems coming next.
