The lower Strona is one of the classics in southern Alps and a true gem - if you get the right waterlevel. In this video you can see an high and low/medium flow. The high waterlevel is only recommended if you know the lines very well and have a solid crew. I ran the Strona many times before. This was definitely my highest descent and quite scary some time. I was super lucky to have the best paddlers around me.
The lower water run was definitely more relaxing but still demanding. In my view the best waterlevel you can get on the lower Strona. Smooth and still challenging. If it’s much lower, it’s getting bony and the lines sometimes unclean. However the scenery is always worth a run.
