Short Stirling Airfix 1/72

Luego de más de 2 meses, logré culminar este modelo, con desafíos inéditos para mí hasta ahora. Si bien el modelo de Airfix es básico y simple de armar, aunque posee varias piezas, en este que compré hace ya años, recién ahora que me disponía a armarlo, me di cuenta que me faltaban piezas. Las ruedas de los trenes de aterrizaje principales, la pieza transparente de la cabina, algunas ventanillas, y el cristal de dos de las torretas armadas, entre otras. Escribí a Airfix, pero al ser un modelo ya discontinuado, no pudieron ayudarme, así que como modelista, acepté el desafío de reemplazar yo las piezas faltantes, de varias maneras:
-Fabriqué el cristal de la cabina con plástico transparente. Me satisfizo el resultado, aunque luego me dí cuenta que pudo ser mejor. Contaba con plásticos transparentes con bordes redondeados, como es la cabina original. No logré darle la inclinación debida al parabrisas, pero sin dudsa logré una cabina de Stirling.
-ensablé el modelo B.III ya que una de las torretas faltantes era al del B.I, justo mi preferida. La otra torreta la reemplacé por una similar, sobrante de otro modelo. También corté las ventanillas faltantes con plástico transparente.
-Pero sin dudas el desafío más grande eran las ruedas. Me dí cuenta que por lejos, las ruedas del Stirling son las más grandes que usara cualquier avión en la Guerra, por lo que no podía reemplazarlas. Luego de unos días se me ocurrió usar unos botones, y por suerte, conseguí unos con las dimensiones justas. La verdad que ser modelista con kits que encajan a la perfección, no es tan satisfactorio como cuando nos enfrentamos a estos desafíos. Saludos cordiales!

After more than 2 months, I managed to complete this model, with unprecedented challenges for me until now. Although the Airfix model is basic and simple to assemble, although it has several pieces, in this one that I bought years ago, only now that I was about to assemble it, I realized that I was missing pieces. The wheels of the main landing gear, the transparent part of the cockpit, some windows, and the glass of two of the armed turrets, among others. I wrote to Airfix, but since it was a discontinued model, they couldn't help me, so as a modeller, I accepted the challenge of replacing the missing parts myself, in several ways:
-I made the glass of the cockpit with transparent plastic. I was satisfied with the result, although later I realized that it could have been better. It had clear plastics with rounded edges, as is the original cockpit. I didn't manage to give the windshield the proper slope, but I certainly got a Stirling cockpit.
-I assembled the B.III model since one of the missing turrets was the B.I one, just my favorite. I replaced the other turret with a similar one left over from another model. I also cut out the missing windows with clear plastic.
-But without a doubt the biggest challenge was the wheels. I realized that by far the wheels on the Stirling were the largest used by any aircraft in the War, so I couldn't replace them. After a few days it occurred to me to use some buttons, and luckily, I got some with the right dimensions. The truth is that being a modeler with kits that fit perfectly is not as satisfying as when we face these challenges. Kind regards!
