Rare WWII Aircraft Relic Found in Alaska’s Lake Andy

In my last video, I stumbled onto something unexpected while kayaking Lake Andy — a strange piece of what looked like aircraft-grade aluminum, half-buried in the shallow water.

I didn’t know what it was then — but I couldn’t let it go. Over the next several days, I made four separate trips back out, diving, measuring, photographing, and trying to piece together the mystery.

What I finally discovered is a piece of WWII aviation history I’ve never seen before — and one that doesn’t show up in most of the surviving photographs.

This is exactly why I keep doing this work on Adak. Even after all these years living here, things still surface (literally) that surprise me.
