The Iraqi Hiking Trail You Never Knew Existed

In this video, I hike the first stage of Iraqi Kurdistan’s first and only long-distance hiking trail.

The Zagros Mountain Trail is a 215-kilometre walking route through the highlands of the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq. Following ancient herding and trading paths, it connects more than thirty Kurdish villages between Shush and Mount Halgurd, Iraq’s highest peak.
