Shortly after The Earl had left Castle Caereinion station, a small lineside fire started between the station and Coppice Lane. It was quickly put out by a member of railway staff. This resulted in The Earl being replaced by diesel 'Chattenden' for the last service of the day to reduce the risk of further fires!
