Texas weather, especially the fall season, is very unpredictable. We could have an early freeze in October, like this year, or no freeze at all. It is really difficult to plan the fall garden with this kind of weather.
In this video, we give a garden tour after our first frost. With some covers, we were able to save some of our summer crops. If we do not get a deep freeze, we might be able to keep them through winter. We also talk about how to grow a successful fall garden even though the weather is unpredictable. The trick is to build seed bank in the soil and let nature decide when and what to grow. By Creating microclimate in the garden, we were able to get succession planting of cool season vegetables.
