Ohio's Most Deranged Human Being...

In May of 2013, neighbours Ariel Castro, the resident of 2207 Seymour Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, were passing the home when they heard someone screaming and begging for help. Startled, they looked to see a woman standing at the house's screen door and promptly broke through the bottom to allow her to escape along with her six-year-old daughter. She told them her name was Amanda Berry - she’d gone missing in 2003, the day before her 17th birthday, and had been held captive ever since by Castro.

And, more shockingly still, she wasn’t alone: two other women were still trapped in the basement. Neighbours were astounded to hear that Castro, a seemingly normal, if rather reserved man, was behind the abduction and abuse of three women, two of whom were just teenagers when he took them. As the case unravelled, though, questions remained: who was Ariel Castro? And what shaped him into the monster he became? In this documentary, we aim to shed light on these questions and more as we explore the twisted mind of Ariel Castro.
