This technical webinar explores the role of the bond-slip mechanism in the seismic performance of existing reinforced concrete structures built with plain reinforcement bars. Drawing on recent experimental pull-out tests and advanced finite element simulations using DIANA FEA, the study compares and validates several bond-slip models. Results highlight the influence of bond deterioration on the stiffness, strength, and damage evolution of beam–column joints, particularly under cyclic loading. The presentation intends to contributes to a more accurate representation of the steel–concrete interaction and provides essential insights for assessing and retrofitting seismically deficient RC buildings.
