In this case, High Court Enforcement Agents Brian O'Shaughnessy and Kevin Stokes travel to Surrey to execute a writ against a couple, Melanie and Christian, for a business debt of nearly £6,000. What starts as a standard enforcement visit quickly escalates when Melanie claims she is bankrupt and therefore not liable for the debt. The situation turns volatile as she refuses to let the agents do their job, leading to a physical altercation where one of the agents is struck.

Following the assault, the police are called to the scene to restore order. While tensions remain high, Brian investigates the bankruptcy claim and discovers that the debt was incurred after the bankruptcy order, meaning the couple is still liable to pay. As the agents prepare to move to ""Stage 3"" and seize goods, Christian decides to step in and pay the full amount to save their belongings, despite his wife’s continued protests and refusal to accept the legal reality.
