There are many techniques for creating stylized textures, but here’s one of my favorite methods I like to use. In this video, I’ll walk you through how I create a tileable stylized wood texture using a combination of displacement maps, sculpting in Blender, and texturing in Substance Painter.
You'll learn how to:
Use displacement maps from PolyHaven to speed up your sculpting workflow
Sculpt stylized wood grain, crevices, and imperfections
Bake maps and build a custom material in Substance Painter from scratch
Fix tileability issues quickly using Photoshop
This workflow is great for anyone looking to make stylized materials for concept art, game assets, or 3D scenes.
