QUICK LAST SAIL ON AMITY BEFORE SHE GETS LIFTED OUT TOMORROW
M5P FLIGHT GETTING SOME SEALS AND SHAGS ON CRAIGLEITH AND THE LAMB.
Craigleith and The Lamb are two small, uninhabited islands in the Firth of Forth, just off North Berwick, East Lothian. 🏝️
Craigleith, meaning “rock of Leith” in Scottish Gaelic, rises 45 metres and is the closest of the local island chain to the harbour. Once quarried for stone, it’s now a vital seabird sanctuary, hosting puffins, shags, and guillemots. Conservation efforts have helped restore its puffin population, making it a hotspot for wildlife watchers.
The Lamb, nestled between Fidra and Craigleith, is even smaller—just 100 by 50 metres. It’s geologically part of a basalt sill and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Protection Area (SPA) for its seabird colonies. In a quirky twist, it was bought in 2009 by illusionist Uri Geller, who believes it’s linked to ancient ley lines connecting mystical sites like Stonehenge and the Pyramids.
Together, these islands form a dramatic coastal skyline and play a key role in Scotland’s marine biodiversity. Perfect for drone footage, storytelling, or seabird spotting.
