Route: The Marshlink Line
Rye (RYE) Station
Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV)
Filming location: B2089 Ferry Road, Rye (TN31 7DN)
One of two level crossings located either side of Rye Station, the crossing point for the Marshlink Line, found on one of the busier main roads into the town of Rye. It's controlled from Rye Signal Box in the middle of the passing loop located opposite the west-bound platform, seen up the line behind the extra set of lights from this video's perspective. This level crossing was progressively renewed throughout mid-late 2018, with the wigwags (road lights) renewed a few months before the rest of the crossing's equipment. It still has a rather unusual set-up, as one of not many level crossings to still have the audible alarms fitted inside the barrier 'pedestals', and there are four of them here that are all clearly audible even over busy traffic noise.
