전통시장(재래시장)과 야시장
신선한 과일, 음식, 다양한 수제제품 등을 저렴한 가격에 살 수 있을 뿐만 아니라
전통문화를 체험하고 즐길 수 있는 좋은 장소이기 때문일 것입니다.
또한 저는 필리핀 생활 초기에 궁금한게 하나 있었습니다.
필리핀 사람들의 한달 월급은 한화로 환산해 약 30만원정도로 거의 한국의 10분의 1
수준에 불과함에도,
의식주에 필요한 생필품 가격은 한국의 70% 수준에 이를 만큼 소득에 비해 결코 저렴하지 않았기 때문입니다.
필리핀사람들은 어떻게 저렇게 작은 수입으로 생활할 수 있을 까 하는 궁금증…
오늘 야시장을 둘러보니 그 궁금증을 조금 풀 수 있었습니다.
자~ 함께 가보시죠…
야시장을 보기전에 지난달 새벽에 촬영해놓은 재래시장부터 잠깐 보여드리도록 하겠습니다.
재래시장은 막사이사이 애비뉴(Magsaysay Ave)를 사이에 두고 센터몰 맞은편에 자리잡고 있습니다.
새벽부터 저녁 늦게까지 운영하는 재래시장,
아직 어둠이 다 가시기 전인 5시반에 가보았습니다.

야시장으로 가보겠습니다.
야시장은 밤9시부터 개장하여 다음날2시까지 5시간동안 운영하는데,
이 야시장은 두가지 파트로 나누어 집니다.
그 하나는 번햄파크 일부와 멜빈존스 축구장 에 펼쳐지는 먹거리 야시장,
이곳에서는 허기진 관광객들과 필리핀 서민들이 즐기기 좋은 필리핀의 대표적인 음식들과 각 나라들의 인기있는 전통 음식 및 길거리 음식들로 불야성을 이룹니다.
물론 한국의 대표적인 길거리 음식인 떡볶이, 오뎅, 김밥이 인기가 좋습니다.
또 한곳은
멜빈존스 축구장과 인접한 6차선 해리슨로드(Harrison Rd),
이곳은 주간에는 바기오의 중심도로로 이용하다가 밤 9시에 6차로중 한쪽방향 3차로를 막고 각종 의류, 잡화, 수공예품, 액세서리 등을 파는 야시장입니다.
먼저 해리슨로드로 가보겠습니다.
9시가 가까워오니 상인들이 가판대를 펼칠 준비를 하고 있습니다.

지금은 9시 10분전입니다만 성급한 상인들이
차도를 막고 가판대를 펼치기 시작합니다.
미쳐 빠져나가지 못한 택시가 다행히 반대차로로
간신히 빠져나가는 군요.
이제 9시 정각 3차선 차로가 10분만에 완전히 야시장으로 바뀌었습니다.
삽시간에 사람들이 몰려듭니다.
둘러보겠습니다.

Before we look at the night market, let me show you the traditional market that I filmed early last month.
The traditional market is located opposite the Center Mall with Magsaysay Ave in between.
A traditional market that runs from dawn to late at night,
I went there at 5:30, before the darkness was over.

The night market opens from 9 p.m. and runs for 5 hours until 2 p.m. the next day,
This night market is divided into two parts.
One is the food night market in parts of Burnham Park and Melvin Jones soccer field,
Here, it is a nightlife with representative Philippine foods that are good for hungry tourists and ordinary Filipinos, as well as popular traditional and street foods from each country.
Of course, Tteokbokki, Fish cake, and Gimbap, which are representative street foods in Korea, are popular.
The other place is
Harrison Rd, a six-lane road adjacent to Melvin Jones Football Field,
This is a night market that uses Baguio's main road during the day and blocks three lanes in one direction of six lanes at 9 p.m. and sells various clothes, miscellaneous goods, handicrafts, and accessories.
Let's go to Harrison Road first.
As it approaches nine o'clock, the merchants are getting ready to open the stands.

It's ten minutes to nine, but the hasty merchants
Block the roadway and start opening the stand.
The taxi that couldn't get out of the car went to the opposite lane
You're barely getting out.
Now the three-lane road at nine o'clock has completely turned into a night market in ten minutes.
People are flocking in a flash.
