Adi Kailash Road Trip – Part 10 | Journey Gunji to Adi Kailash Base | Unseen Miracle at Adi Kailash

In this episode of our Adi Kailash Road Trip, we begin Day 10 from our campsite in Gunji, where we had stayed under a PWD shade the previous night. After packing up, we started our long-awaited journey towards Jyolingkong — the base point of the Holy Adi Kailash.

From the Gunji checkpost, the route takes you through a series of small, scenic Himalayan villages. The first one is Nabi, and just before entering the village, there is a beautiful little Temple known as Manokamna Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Nabi village itself also offers stay options for those who wish to stay there.

Further ahead lies Kutti, around 20 km from Gunji. This is an important checkpoint where your Inner Line Permit (ILP) is verified by the ITBP. Here, we also took a short breakfast break and enjoyed hot parathas and Maggi, perfect for the cold mountain weather. After refuelling ourselves, we resumed the drive.

From Kutti, Jyolingkong is another 16 km. On reaching the Jyolingkong checkpost, your ILP is checked once again. From there, the main parking area is 500 meters away, where visitors must pay a ₹200 parking fee.

We arrived around 1 PM, but the peak of Adi Kailash was covered entirely by clouds. Since we had already planned to camp here, we decided to wait patiently. And finally… the divine moment arrived.

The clouds slowly drifted away, and the majestic Adi Kailash peak revealed itself — calm, powerful, and breathtaking. As we admired the sacred mountain, nature surprised us with a phenomenon we had never seen in our entire lives — a full circular rainbow-like halo around the Sun. It felt like a divine blessing, a sign that our long, difficult journey had been accepted.

In the next part, we will trek to Parvati Sarovar, located about 2 km from the parking area, and then visit Bheem ki Kheti. After returning, we’ll search for a perfect campsite near Jyolingkong to spend the night under the stars.
