Videos filmed at 12:02 | 12:23
Route: Portsmouth Direct Line
Between Liss (LIS) and Petersfield (PTR) Stations
Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with 2nd-generation Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD2)
Formerly: Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC)
Filming location: Andlers Ash Road, Liss (GU33 7LU)
A level crossing just south of Liss, Hampshire, one which was fully renewed to a full-barrier crossing a few weeks prior to filming, after my previous visit on its last day in operation as a half-barrier crossing. Barrier down times are significantly longer since conversion, rather unfortunately for those local, especially those who may have used this route to avoid long down times at the nearby station crossing. As this crossing was already partially renewed, the barriers, one alarm, and one wigwag are all that were really put in during the time which the crossing was closed. Due to the system not being fully up and running at the time of filming, crossing attendants can be seen, present to tell the system if the crossing is clear.
