Moron is Another Filipino dessert. Very popular actually in Samar (Where I came from) I grow up eating this and I remember my Mom making this every Fiesta.
Moron is made out of ground rice/rice flour and cooked in coconut milk. Usually we make two kinds and rolled them together. Plain and the other one flavored with chocolate (cocoa powder) or you can use tablea (Philippine chocolate) during fiesta my Family usually starts making this dish at night and have it ready the next day. I remember watching my Mom and sister cook this in a huge pot stirring constantly! They usually serve this for breakfast with the coffee or as a dessert. I like mine not too sweet because that’s how I remember the Moron that I used to eat.
I hope you guys enjoy this recipe and if you’re like me who live abroad it’s always nice when I get to eat my favorite childhood dessert or snack.
If you don’t have cocoa powder you can use tablea 6-8 pcs. Make sure you melt it completely into the hot coconut milk and water mixtures before you add all your dry ingredients. Adjust the sweetness to your liking.

Granulated sugar 418g(1 3/4 cup)
Butter 113g (1/2 cup)
Coconut milk 800g (3 cups)
Water 690g(3 cups)

Chocolate:
Rice flour 454g (3 1/2 cup)
Glutinous rice flour 60g (1/2 cup)
Brown sugar 352g (1 3/4 cup)
Water 690g (3 cups)
Butter 113g (1/2 cup)
Cocoa powder 26g (1/2 cup)
Margarine 35g (3 Tblspn)
Coconut milk 800g (3 cups)
Vanilla 19g (2 Tblspn)
Salt 7g (1 tspn)
Banana leaves
Note:
I made this big recipe for a party. If you are only making it for your Family feel free to cut the recipe in half. The glutinous rice flour is optional. If you only have regular rice flour you can still make this recipe. Just replace the glutinous rice flour with the regular rice flour instead. Originally in Samar where I came from we only used regular rice flour when we make Moron but the addition of the glutinous rice is not a bad idea. Try it yourself and let me know which one you like more. I like it with or without the glutinous rice flour the secret to making a delicious Moron is using a lot of Coconut milk. The recipe I made I used total of 4 canned coconut milk you can add more if you want.
