Today I decided I wanted to trail run some terrain in the back country of Garibaldi. I wanted to go through Elfin lakes, up through Rampart Ponds, and up to Mamquam lake, and on the way back tag the summit of Opal Cone. I have trail run this in the past (and in fact I made an old video on this trail) however, I wanted to make a more redefined and better quality and precise version of a video, sharing these trails today.
This is a beautiful part of Garibaldi provincial park.
Here is a list of all the spots in which you can fill up water, with the kilometre markings:
-2.5 km: mini waterfall creek
-9.5 km: Elfin Lakes (the first lake is very nice and clear for h20 fill up)
-12 km: creek crossing running through the scree zone
-13.5/14 km: creek running down (in full flood all the time)
-17-18.3 km: between lake and creek there are options
-18.5 km: silty coloured water (it's safe to drink its just the impact from the glacier on the water, still fine to drink)
-19.5 km: Rampart Ponds (2 nice tarns)
-21.5 km: Mamquam Lake, with creek leading into it
**Make sure to fill up before heading up to the summit of Opal Cone.
You may notice online and on a sign past Elfin that is says Elfin lakes is 12 km from the parking lot. It was a true 10 km on GPS. I have read that from two different sources of GPS.
Hope that helps!
Thank you for watching,
