Achievements are a feature of video games which are so omnipresent, they have become an effective part of the landscape of gaming as a whole. By this point, many players have gotten so used to their existence that they've began taking their presence for granted.

But as with every other feature in games, achievements are created and implemented in order to encourage certain player behaviours, with different kinds of achievements being used for a range of purposes.

In this video, we'll discuss about some of the different ways game developers can use achievements to structure their game, manipulate player behaviour, and engage with users in ways that extend beyond just games. We will go over a few different types of achievements and the respective effects they can have on users.
