The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Stoke sub Hamdon, sometimes called East Stoke, holds a ring of six bells. The treble and 4th were cast in 1949 by John Taylor & Co, the 2nd in 1787 by George David, the 3rd in 1910 by John Taylor & Co, the 5th in c1580 by Roger Semson and the tenor in 1688 by Thomas Purdue. The 5th and tenor bells are listed for preservation. The six bells were last rehung in 1949, at the time of the remodelling of the ring and the casting of the treble and 4th. At the time of the rehanging, the bells were hung in a new Cast iron frame by John Taylor & Co. The tenor weighs 17-0-15cwt and is tuned to 'E'.
