For seven seasons the IMF (Impossible Missions Force) mounted intricately elaborate cons to trap criminals, spies, and various wrongdoers. On 'Mission: Impossible' (1966) there were typically no interludes for character development or personal stories of the team members. It was all business and viewers liked it that way. Only one actor was on the team for all seven seasons: Greg Morris. Peter Lupus appeared in all seven seasons but was dropped in season five, only to be brought back by popular demand before the season ended. Peter Graves, who joined in season two, was the perfect team leader. (The less said about how the 'Jim Phelps' character was shat upon in the first M:I movie the better.) The Emmy-winning theme by Lalo Schifrin based its opening measures on Morse Code for the letters M.I.
