The dimensions of the killing and exile of the Ukrainian people cannot be assessed. We're witnessing the gross violation of international law more than 30 years after the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, in our close vicinity. In February 2022, the brutal events foretold danger, destruction, tears, and loss.
On December 31, 2023, we counted 679 days of war on Romania's borders, and more than that, we assessed our reactive actions. With the Texas Children's Hospital's full support, we provided 2023 emergency services to Ukrainian citizens seeking shelter in Constanța.
This is the only reasonable answer we could have for the situation of such a vulnerable group of people! In these troubled times, we extended our community-serving mission, becoming a leading health organization providing services to war refugees.
The program concluded its second operations year. It gained in terms of procedure improvement. The Ukrainian project team at the Center of Excellence has perfected the processes concerning admittance to the center's medical services and/or referrals to partner medical services providers in the area.
The Ukrainian community members learned about our program from their own experience. They willingly inform other new members about its existence, as our program enjoys an outstanding reputation in terms of medical specialties, short waiting periods/medical cases, effectiveness, and team professionalism.
