In this video I'll show you how I take familiar chord progressions and basically give them a whole new life by re-imagining them in a complex odd time like 17/8. We're talking about creating some cool cross-rhythms using two different groupings: 5+3+3+3+3 and 4+4+4+5.
You'll hear an original 2-minute piece I put together, showing off how these rhythmic layers work together.
If you're a guitarist, a composer, or just someone who loves messing with music theory and wants to spice up their tunes, hopefully, this gives you some cool new ideas.
