Devil's Dyke - 28/8/23 - Truleigh run and wondering how to fly back down the thermal once topped out

I tried the Truleigh ridge run and came up slightly short. I had two goes at it and was almost there when the day switched off.
A question from the little boy in the back of the class:
I came out of a thermal on the ridge and wanted to fly back to the ridge towards the source of the thermal. I'm finding it really difficult to pick the centre of the thermal I just flew up on. In this video, I had it for a little while, but the wind pushed me over towards the pub. I was trying to fly North, but my track log showed I was flying NW.
There must a fairly trusty way of flying back to the hill down the lifty thermal I just took.
