Breaking News | Police Encounter Near Nurpur, Two Gangsters Injured in Firing

A police encounter took place near Nurpur, where police successfully injured two accused in retaliatory firing during a late-night operation. According to official information, the arrested accused are active members of gangster Dadewal and Harry Chattha gangs.

Sharing details of the case, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur stated that on the 22nd, an attempt was made to snatch a vehicle at gunpoint near D-Mart outside Pathankot Chowk. Following the incident, a complaint was received on the 23rd, and a case was registered at Police Station 8.

After registering the case, police conducted raids in nearby districts. Acting on secret intelligence, police learned that the accused were hiding in the Nurpur area. A naka (checkpoint) was set up to apprehend them. When police signaled the suspects to stop, the accused opened fire on the police party, forcing the police to retaliate in self-defense.

During the encounter, both accused were injured. They have been identified as Hardeep Singh and Tejveer Singh.

Further investigation revealed that the same accused were involved in a firing incident in Batala on the 10th, in which two people lost their lives. After that incident, the accused went on the run and later carried out a robbery attempt in this area. The Batala Police were also searching for them in connection with that case.

The injured accused have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Police have recovered two pistols from their possession.

The operation marks a significant success for the police in cracking down on organized crime and gangster networks in Punjab.
