Discover a hidden gem in the Blue Mountains—a charming 1.2 km stroll that begins and ends with waterfalls. Recently upgraded and family-friendly, this short adventure is perfect for all ages, with picnic tables at the start for a relaxed break.
Come along with us on the Braeside Walk, a short but spectacular 1.2 km trail in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Starting beside a small dam and waterfall, the path follows Govetts Leap Brook before reaching the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls at the other end. This recently upgraded track is smooth, well-maintained, and suitable for walkers of all ages—including families with kids and grandparents. With picnic tables right at the trailhead, it’s the perfect spot for a quick day out.
Tip: There’s very little shade along the track, so it’s best enjoyed in the cooler months, or early in the day if visiting in summer.
Extensions & Nearby Highlights:
• From the end of the Braeside Walk, you can extend your adventure to Govetts Leap for one of the most iconic lookouts in the Blue Mountains.
• Another option is to continue along the Clifftop Track, which links Govetts Leap to Evans Lookout, offering breathtaking valley views.
• Just nearby is Barrow Lookout, where you’ll be treated to sweeping, elevated views over the Grose Valley — the perfect reward if you want to add a little more to your day.
History & Highlights:
• The Braeside Walk traces the course of Govetts Leap Brook, once an important water source in the Blackheath area.
• It was originally developed as part of the early 20th-century tourist routes in the Blue Mountains, connecting local lookouts and waterfalls that attracted holidaymakers.
• The walk has recently been refurbished to improve access, making it one of the easiest ways to enjoy the waterfalls and scenery of the Grose Valley.
• At just 1.2 km, it’s short and easy, but offers the reward of starting at one waterfall and finishing at another—something few walks can claim.
