牛という動物を生物学的にではなく人間にとっての有用性という観点で捉えた教育映画。田畑の耕作や脱穀機の動力源に、栄養豊富な牛乳は飲料と乳製品に、その肉は食糧となり、皮・脂肪・角・蹄・骨は様々な製品に加工され、さらには砂糖の精製に使われる骨灰や堆肥の原料になる牛舎の敷藁にいたるまで、余すところのない牛の利用法が紹介される。
「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、1915年から1938年までの間に製作された作品を中心に45作品を新たに公開します。今回は、官民で製作された多彩な教育映画のほか、大正天皇即位にかかわる貴重なフィルムや国内外の様々な出来事や風物を伝える作品を集めました。国立映画アーカイブでは、今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。

The sixth edition of this site presents 45 additional titles covering mainly the years from 1915 to 1938. The selection includes a variety of educational films produced by the public and private sectors, while valuable footage related to the enthronement of Emperor Taisho and films that convey various events, scenery and customs both in Japan and abroad.
