In this powerful reminder, Hisham Abu Yusuf reflects on one of the most challenging questions believers face:
Why do good things get credited to us, while hardships get blamed on Allah?
When life goes well — success, marriage, children, health — people say: “I worked hard. I earned this.”
But when loss, pain, and trials come, hearts whisper: “Why did Allah do this to me?”
This mindset is corrected through the profound story of Musa (ʿalayhi as-salām) and Khidr in Surah Al-Kahf — a story that exposes the limits of human knowledge and the depth of Allah’s hidden wisdom.
⭐ The Danger of Knowledge Without Humility
Knowledge is a gift, but it can become a trial.
If it is sought for ego, status, debate, or fame — even religious knowledge — it can lead to arrogance and punishment rather than guidance.
In today’s age, information is everywhere. People quote verses, hadith, and scholars easily — but without wisdom, practice, or humility. Knowledge without sincerity becomes a weapon, not a light.
⭐ Musa & Khidr: When Appearances Deceive
Khidr does three actions that shock Musa:
He damages a boat.
He kills a young boy.
He repairs a wall for people who gave no hospitality.
Each action looks wrong. Each one pushes Musa to object.
But in the end, Khidr reveals the hidden wisdom:
The boat was saved from a tyrant king.
The boy would have grown to oppress righteous parents.
The wall protected treasure for orphan children until they matured.
What looked like harm was actually mercy.
And notice the humility of Khidr:
He attributes apparent harm to himself — “I intended to damage it.”
But clear good to Allah — “Your Lord intended mercy for them.”
A lesson in adab:
Good is credited to Allah.
Perceived harm is carried with humility — while trusting Allah’s wisdom behind it.
⭐ Allah Does Not Will Evil for Its Own Sake
Behind every trial is a hidden الخير (good) — even if it is painful, delayed, or unseen in this life.
Humans judge by what they see.
Allah plans with what they do not see.
Many people lose faith because of personal suffering.
But like Musa, we only see a fragment of the story.
Allah sees the whole picture.
⭐ The Call of This Reminder
Be patient when life doesn’t make sense.
Seek knowledge with sincerity, not ego.
Stay humble, no matter how much you learn.
Trust Allah’s decree, even when it hurts.
Be content, knowing He is the best of planners.
This story teaches us:
Faith is not about understanding everything —
It is about trusting the One who does.
