The world today is very YANG; competitive, active, outward focused.
To achieve balance, we need to also be YIN, compassionate, still and inward.
A YANG YOGA practice focuses on exercising muscles and moving blood into them.
A YIN YOGA practice focuses on stretching Connective Tissue and Fascia which encases all of the joints, facilitating mobility. If we never bend our knees or stretch our spines, the CT is going to shorten to the minimum. Gently held long stretches is YIN YOGA, either done lying down or seated, with or without props.
CT is a living matrix that encases every part of our bodies, co-ordinating electrical and chemical activity for life giving energy.
