Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales have proven to be an immensely popular source of inspiration for illustrators for the best part of two centuries. So much so that even though it's the longest video I've made I have still felt obliged to be fairly robust in the editing. So if your personal favourite isn't featured I apologise. I have also left out all the many published editions of single tales, of which there are a staggering amount. But even with these omissions I hope that the work I have shown in the video makes for an interesting visual journey.
And my apologies for the incorrect assertion that Nika Goltz's edition was from 2006. I took the images from a reprint and the originals were actually 1978. Oops.
