Although women make up half of the worldwide workforce potential, they are often underrepresented in power sector technical and leadership roles. The Women in Power System Transformation initiative—funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and implemented through the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the G-PST Consortium—was created to address educational and professional barriers to women’s entry and advancement in power system operation organizations.
The G-PST Consortium's Pillar 3 lead organization, Imperial College London, held a series of interviews with women engineers and leaders about what its like to navigate the power system operations working environment, what skills and lessons they have learned along the way, and the many career opportunities available for women.
