DXF Import Options in FreeCAD (Applicable to DWG)

DXF import options in FreeCAD are explained in this video. The same options are valid for importing DWG file format.

There are multiple options which users can set during DXF import, such as whether layers should be imported, whether to import texts and dimensions, layouts or points. Users have also option to join layers into blocks and set usage of color during import. User also sets whether geometry should be imported as simple part shapes, draft objects or as sketches.

Viewers will also learn differences between the two importers – the new C++ DXF importer and the legacy Python DXF importer.

The practical example used in the video is a small architectural 2D plan view drawing.
