The Striker has always been my favorite ship. It's fast, maneuverable, has a very powerful Ult, and with the right passives and build, can handle anything this game throws at you. For this rift run we are up against the new big baddy with new gear but a reliquary that only give us more Tears of the Mad. Otherwise, frankly, it's too easy.... except for the bubbles. Beatable, but the most annoying.
Even though I beat 4k with nothing new it was time to beef up the Striker a little bit. All of the Starforged gear is ascended lvl 8 but only the secondaries get new catalyst (Dual Strike) along with the TWS Scanner (Diffusive Grid). The weakness acquired by these catalyst are negligible. On the other hand, the new catalysts for cargo units apply weakness I really didn't want. (No consumables, or -30% reduced handling) So, you'll notice there are only 3 ascendancy set bonuses. The 3rd is kinda meh anyway.
The only piece of new gear added is a Powerful Barrage Blaster. Don't let the name deceive e you. In ES2 the term "barrage" is used to describe something that ramps up in damage. This doesn't but, it has immense levels of damage. Also, the spread is atrocious. Most people recommend to start with a Calibrated version first and then add a Homing catalyst. I went a different route. Why not embrace the spread and make it a truly "Spray and Pray" weapon. For this endeavor I opted for 20% chance to reflect and 10% chance for area damage. This comes in real handy for capital and boss ship fights and when you just want to thin out a crowd.
Let's address a big bug. The Okkar Frigate gets stuck in terrain. This can lead to energy cores being complexly covered making the frigate invincible. This seems to be happening on about 30-40% of my runs. When this happens just kill all the other enemies. They will eventually stop spawning. Then just bail out. Strangely enough, the new Tactical beam doesn't work on the frigate probably because it is coded as terrain. Several other weapons affects don't work on the cores either but this is by design so don't expect the cores to get easier to kill any time soon. I tried to "clip" inside the frigate too. Yes its possible.
And like always, I'm not saying this is the best build. In fact I have several ideas to make it better but, it gets the job done.
One last thing. Did you notice this Striker went on a diet? Apparently the smaller the modules you use the smaller your "hit box". Who knew?
