British Reggae Group Aswad were the prototype of UK groups. Not only were they the first to bag a record deal with an international label but are credited with paving the way for numerous acts that came after them including Steel Pulse who would become arguably more popular on a global scale. Over the years rumours of there being a rivalry and cold-war between both groups would continue to make the rounds.
This video traces the rise of this incredible group from Ladbroke Grove, West London.
