SIMON TEDESCHI, PIANO

Simon Tedeschi is one of Australia’s most renowned and sought-after pianists, awarded several prestigious prizes including First prize in the keyboard division of the Royal Overseas League Competition (London), Symphony Australia’s Young Performer of the Year Award, and the Legacy Award from the Creativity Foundation (USA). Also recipient of a Centenary of Federation Medal, Tedeschi has performed in major concert halls throughout Europe, North America and Asia, and for world leaders and heads of state such as Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, George W. Bush and Hu Jintao.

Tedeschi is a frequent guest of orchestras around Australia and worldwide. Based in the USA for several years and returning to Sydney in 2010, Tedeschi has most recently performed with the Sydney and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, in concert for Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Recital Centre, Musica Viva, major festivals and other venues nationwide, with a debut tour to the United Arab Emirates in 2015.

Tedeschi has recorded piano concerti by Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Mozart, and two popular Gershwin albums for ABC Classics, earning widespread praise and ‘Editor’s Choice’ in Limelight magazine. His 2004 recording of the Grieg piano concerto with Queensland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Richard Bonynge was re-released in 2013. His latest CD and national concert tour of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition continues to earn critical and public acclaim, described as “pure brilliance... a powerhouse performance” (Sydney Morning Herald).
