No jokes, no nonsense, no commentary, just the pure rock crawling experience.
This is my SORRCA Class 3 competition crawler. I don't have a name for it. What I do have is over a year of tuning and adjustments and nearly $1000 of parts into this rig to make it as capable as it can possibly be. I consider this a "Bully Killer" truck because the main idea of this build is to run the same hard lines as my RC4WD Bully II. And more or less, I have succeeded with that.
Unfortunately, this outing didn't go exactly as planned. I've been experimenting with tire inserts in an attempt to improve side-hill capability, but the Injora Silicones I'm currently running are far too firm and completely killed forward drive, to the point of not being able to include my favorite line at my filming location in this video. And worse, the firmness actually made side-hill performance worse. I attempted the line a few times, but my attempts were cut short from one of the shocks failing. I may include a bonus clip of a successful attempt of that line in a future episode.
For those who don't know, SORRCA Class 3 is an "unlimited" style class that has a tire size limit of 6 inches, rather than 4.75. Most Class 3 trucks run a 5.25" tall tire to keep the center of gravity low down, and this is no exception. And unlike my Class 2 cheater, this one is actually legal except for a lack of a front bumper. The rig is also equipped with a "DIG" unit, which can remotely lock out the rear wheels so the front end can pull the truck around tight corners. Class 3 allows either dig OR 4 wheel steer, but not both on the same truck, so I chose dig.
Setup for those interested:
Meus Racing Skid Forward LCG chassis, front 1" of frame rails cut off
Aluminum Capra portal axles with upgraded internals, a front overdrive portal gear set and extra heavy brass portal cases on all 4 corners
Hobbywing Fusion SE 1200kv running through an Amazon Digbox
JConcepts Tusk LP 2.2 on carbon wheels with 22mm brass hubs, currently running Injora Silicone Greens(Tires are amazing, don't recommend the 2.2 Injora Silicones)
Fake Dravtechs with Traxxas internals, soft silver Mini-T springs
Heavily trimmed Tamiya Stadium Blitzer body shell
