The WeatherTech International Challenge Group 4 (Monoposto Classic Formula Cars: FB, FC, FF, CF) Sunday Feature race at Road America on 7/23/2017.
First event in my Lola T440 at Road America. Had a fun race with James Buchanan in the #166 '69 Merlyn Mk 11a and Brent McPhail in the #06 yello '70 Hawke DL2a.
I got by Buchanan at turn 8 on the first lap and was able to hold him off for lap 2, but his Merlyn made quick work of me on the front straight as we started lap 3 and I was never really close to him again. McPhail and I traded positions several times until on lap 4 he went off at turn 6; he was able to recover but never made up the ground lost.
The last three laps were uneventful, no one close enough in front to catch, so most of that is edited out. The video closes with Tonis Kasemets lapping me on what I'm pretty sure was his cool-down lap (you can see the checker wave behind me); the closing speeds of Formula B's compared to Formula Ford are striking.
