L’eremo di Monte Giove costituisce la sommità più elevata della serie di colline che circonda la città di Fano, collocandosi a 223 metri sopra il livello del mare. Dall'alto del colle è possibile osservare la città lungo la fascia costiera e, risalendo la valle del Metauro, verso la catena appenninica dominata dal Monte Catria.
La sommità del colle divenne proprietà dei monaci della Congregazione Camaldolese dell'ordine di san Benedetto a partire dal 1609, anno di costruzione del loro convento, ultimato nel 1627. Alla sua edificazione contribuirono molti benefattori e lo stesso comune di Fano, che si impegnò a somministrare alla famiglia religiosa una notevole quantità di grano.

L'Eremo acquistò un grande splendore in breve tempo e, nel 1657, venne visitato dalla regina di Svezia Cristina Alessandra Maria. Nel 1741, a causa di cedimenti dovuti all'instabilità del terreno, la chiesa venne completamente ricostruita in posizione più arretrata, su disegno dell'architetto riminese Giovan Francesco Buonamici.

The hermitage of Monte Giove is the highest peak of the series of hills surrounding the city of Fano, standing at 223 meters above sea level. From the top of the hill it is possible to observe the city along the coast and, going up the Metauro valley, towards the Apennine chain dominated by Monte Catria.
The top of the hill became the property of the monks of the Camaldolese Congregation of the order of Saint Benedict starting from 1609, the year of construction of their convent, completed in 1627. Many benefactors and the municipality of Fano itself contributed to its construction, which undertook to administering to the religious family a considerable quantity of grain.

The Hermitage acquired great splendor in a short time and, in 1657, was visited by the Queen of Sweden Cristina Alessandra Maria. In 1741, due to subsidence due to the instability of the ground, the church was completely rebuilt in a more rearward position, based on a design by the Rimini architect Giovan Francesco Buonamici.
