Cherry Blossom Festival & Taitua Arboretum, WAIKATO | NEW ZEALAND

Spring has arrived and cherry blossoms have started blooming in Waikato, New Zealand! We absolutely love cherry blossom trees so when we found out there was a Waikato Cherry Tree Festival, we had to go check it out.

The Waikato Cherry Tree Festival is a ticketed annual event that began in only 2017. It's run by husband and wife (Paul Oulton and Anne Cao) from their private English Cherry Tree Manor just south of Hamilton. Unfortunately the event was cancelled in 2019 due to resource consent issues, but they were able to run again this year.

Waikato Chery Tree Festival 2020 ran for only 3 days with limited visitor numbers due to the pandemic restrictions but we fortunately had brilliant weather on the day we went. The cherry blossoms were in magnificent bloom especially since at the time we made this vlog, none had even flowered in Auckland yet!

After our time at the cherry blossom festival, we made our way over to Taitua Arboretum to soak in more nature and sunshine. It takes about 1 and a half hours to walk around the arboretum but there are shorter trails. Taitua Arboretum is free entry and open seven days a week.

Before we returned to Auckland, we got ourselves an early dinner at Shanxi Noodles. Delicious hand-made noodles from a little Chinese restaurant located in a residential area (also in Hamilton). We absolutely loved our noodle dishes. It was a fantastic end to a lovely day.
