DSB Class R (I) Steam Locomotive - Part 3 - Decals and Weathering

My DSB class R (I) is finished. This video is part 3 in a mini-series featuring a resin kit from Tikøb Hobby mounted on a donor model from Liliput (L 131999). In this episode the model is painted, decals are mounted, the loco is weathered, tested on the smartRail and finally posing on different small makeshift dioramas.

The class R locomotive was originally acquired by the Danish State Railways (DSB) because a more powerful class of locomotives were needed to haul heavy trains up the inclines in the eastern part of Jutland. Borsig in Berlin was commissioned to design and build the locomotives and the initial class R (I) was delivered in 1912. The design was a success, and more locos were ordered from Borsig and Winterthur in Switzerland. Later, similar engines but with three cylinders were ordered and these became known as class R (II). Here in the 1950s when my layout is set both versions of the class R were used for a variety of duties and were found both in passenger- and goods train services.
