In this talk from Xen Summit 2025, Ray Huang and Penny Zheng introduce the amd-cppc CPU performance scaling driver for Xen. This new driver leverages Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) to provide finer-grained frequency management than legacy ACPI P-States. The session explains the driver’s two operation modes: passive mode, where Xen governors like ondemand or performance manage tuning, and active mode, where hardware automatically adjusts CPU core frequency based on workload, power, and thermal conditions.
